GAMBIA CELEBRATES GIRLS IN ICT DAY 2016

The Gambia joined the rest of the world on 29th April 2016, to celebrate Girls in ICT Day. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Expanding Horizons, Changing Attitudes”: to empower and encourage girls and young women to consider studies and careers in the growing field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

MOICI CONDUCTS A CONSULTATION AND VALIDATION WORKSHOP ON OPEN ACCESS POLICY

Following the revised open access policy and regulatory framework by the consultant, PRICE WATERHOUSE COOPERS, (PWC) The Ministry of information and communication Infrastructure (MOICI) on Wednesday 6th April, 2016, held a one day consultation and validation workshop to review the documents on open access to communication infrastructure and international gateway liberalization in the Gambia.

The workshop brought together relevant stakeholders in the country to discuss Market issues with regards to internet connectivity and the platform equally served as a means of gathering suggestions that will further help enhance the Policy documents.

TRAINING ON WEB CONTENT MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

The Ministry of Information and Communication Infrastructure (MOICI) hosted an eight (8) days training workshop from 15th-18th December 2014, on Web Content Management and Development which was funded by the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP). 

The training which was conducted at the Gambia Telecommunication and Multimedia Institute (GTMI) follows a series of successful training which were previously conducted on related topics. The training brought together 85 participants from various Ministries and Government Departments.

MOICI CONDUCTS THE GAMBIA INTERNET STAKEHOLDER FORUM

The Ministry of Information and Communication Infrastructure (MOICI), in collaboration with the West Africa Regional Communications Infrastructure Program (WARCIP), and The Foundation of The Gambia Consumer Rights Protection Chapter (FG-CRPC), on Wednesday March 31st held an Internet Stakeholder forum at the Paradise Suites Hotel in Kololi.

 The forum was organized to bring together Key stakeholders in the Internet industry in The Gambia and serve as a platform for critical, constructive and analytical discussions that will help carve-out a way forward towards realizing the ministry’s vision of providing full connectivity to ICTS to everyone and accessible and affordable broadband to everyone in this particular regard.
